The China Post - Photovoltaic power system opens in Taipei nature park

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Taipei City Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) activated a photovoltaic power system installed at the Neishuangxi Forest Nature Park in Taipei's Shihlin District.
The photovoltaic system will not only provide renewable energy to the 104 hectare park, the first forest-themed park in Taipei City, but also serves as teaching material for environmental education, the GEO said in a statement.
The system is expected to save the park about NT$39,172 in electricity costs annually and cut carbon emission by 6,238 kg in a year.
The GEO is planning to upgrade Internet connectivity at the park by 2011 to enable people to monitor the efficiency of the photovoltaic system online.
