Riverbank Near Raohe Night Market Gets a Stunning New Mural, Set to Unveil on August 20

Check out the new mural art along Songhe Street and Raohe Night Market! This stunning artwork, spanning an area of approximately 500 square meters, was designed by artist Su Wan Ling. Drawing inspiration from Songshan’s rich history, it offers a visual narrative filled with captivating stories.

The mural showcases the Keelung River, which flows beside Songshan District, and starts with the silhouette of Songshan, resembling a koi fish leaping toward the sky, symbolizing hope and aspirations. As day turns to night, the mural illustrates the transformation of Songshan over time. A small train weaves through the hills, representing the rise of Songshan Railway Station and evoking memories of past economic prosperity. The century-old coral tree, known as “Granny Coral Tree,” blooms with vibrant red flowers, while the Taipei City bird, the blue magpie, soars through the sky, symbolizing the district’s gradual transformation towards a brighter future.

The mural concludes with a view of the Four Beasts Mountain from Songshan, where a group of curious and adorable animals—tiger, leopard, lion, and elephant—guard the hill. Together with the blue magpie leading the way, this artwork is not just a depiction of Songshan’s past but also a hopeful glance toward its promising future. Take a stroll and immerse yourself in this narrative-rich piece of art that beautifully captures the spirit of Songshan!
