The China Post - Taipei City renovates three old scenic areas

TAIPEI, Taiwan — The Taipei City Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) completed the renovation of the three over 30-year-old scenic areas in Taipei to create better locations for hiking and other recreational purposes.
The highlight of the renovation project happening at Zhongshan District's Yuanshan Scenic Area is the facelift of the old observatory.
The landscape has been beautified by colorful plants and flowers, creating a more visitor-friendly environment. A 「war-time tunnel,」 located near the observatory and modeled on the famous 「evacuation tunnel」 leading from the Grand Hotel, has the potential to become a new tourist magnet.
Meanwhile, the renovation of Xianjiyan Scenic Area focused on renewing the popular but worn down hiking trail and constructing an elevated terrace that provides a spectacular view of the Taipei 101 building.
On the other hand, the major part of the modification of Chihnan Scenic Area is the addition of multipurpose facilities at the location popular for being the home of the Chihnan Temple.
